The Ministry of Customs and Trade adopted new monetary limits, which are affective as of 1/1/2017, through the Communiqué No. 6502 on Raising the Monetary Limits Set Forth in Article 68 of the Consumer Protection Law for the complaints arising from consumer problems for 2017.
In accordance with the new regulation the monetary limits are determined as follows:
a) Consumer complaints below 2.400.-Turkish Liras must be submitted to District Consumer Arbitration Committee,
b) Consumer complaints between 2.400.-Turkish Liras and 3.610.-Turkish Liras must be submitted to Provincial Consumer Arbitration Committee for the cities having the status of metropolis,
c) Consumer complaints below 3.610.-Turkish Liras must be submitted to Provincial Consumer Arbitration Committee in the centers of the cities which do not have the status of metropolis,
d) Consumer complaints between 2.400.-Turkish Liras and 3.610.-Turkish Liras must be submitted to Provincial Consumer Arbitration Committee for the districts bounded to the cities which do not have the status of metropolis,
The consumer complaints exceeding the monetary limits mentioned above must be submitted to the consumer courts. In case that the consumers fail to submit the complaint to the appropriate body, the application will be subject to rejection at the preliminary examination phase.
